Good Morning! Just downloaded an app to my phone to make my life easier. It's called Dr. Greger's Daily Dozen. Dr. Greger has written a book called How Not To Die. Sounds a little frightening, right? The book is full of helpful advice about what to eat and what not to eat to avoid some of our many causes of diseases. The first part of the book is about the prevention of diseases.
However, the second part of the book is what I want to direct you to. It is full of suggestions by Dr. Greger (research based) explaining what foods to eat to be healthy. His philosophy is whole-food, plant-based nutrition. Of course, it is your choice to add meats to your food plan if you wish. The foods we should eat on a daily basis, according to Dr. Greger, are beans, berries, other fruits, cruciferous vegetables, greens, other vegetables, flaxseeds, nuts, spices, whole grains, beverages and we should exercise for 90 minutes daily. That list is a lot to remember, isn't it?
So Dr. Greger's Daily Dozen app takes care of the remembering of all the items on the list. You just download the app to your phone and the list comes up. As you eat various foods throughout the day, you tap the circle next to the food category. The app tracks your progress. Today I ate berries, beans, flaxseeds so the app showed that I have fulfilled 17% of my goal for the day.
